This. It annoys me so much. And it's not just in trans-headcanon fic. When a fic is tagged with "Female Character" and "Women Being Awesome" 99 times out of a hundred you can be sure that everything in that story will revolve completely about their female-ness and their not-a-male-ness, instead of "here is a great character who is also female."
And I will never understand the compulsion for slash fans to make every single thing about two characters' lives revolve around their repressed homosexuality and their repressed/unrequited love for each other or their domestic problems. Apparently, gay people do not get stressed or burnt-out by their jobs, do not have difficulties with personal issues that have nothing to do with being gay, and do not have normal human reactions to traumatic events and morally-difficult situations -- any angst or character development or dark attitudes they may show are "actually" solely because they are in love with a guy. Bleh.
