Why are so many New Yorkers the most self involved?

This sounds mean, but genuinely from all the major cities I've been to they're the ones who are most obsessed with how special they are. More directly, as someone in the vicinity but not directly a resident of New York, what's your thoughts on the city?

That's an interesting question for sure and honestly, I agree with you. I guess because it's so highly competitive in NYC everything costs so much money that you're constantly trying to reach ahead and be better than everyone around you.

Again, these are my personal views and a lot of New Yorkers just have the air of being better than you, possibly because it takes a certain kind of person to survive in the city. It might be about bragging rights as well.

One thing I love is that the rest of the world loves NYC so I've had so many awesome cultural experiences that I wouldn't have had anywhere else. I've gone to several Japanese and Korean concerts as well met tons of actors and directors by attending film festivals.I love that I can do all of this and then head away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

NYC is pretty amazing and there are so many hidden gems. I love just wandering the streets and finding awesome places, like some of my favorite chocolate stores.

I met someone from NYC who was very proud of it, and was always kinda homesick.

I guess I saw it as bragging more because of my own lack of understanding what it's like to be proud of where you have ties to, and other things they said. Because while I haven't been there, I do think it's an interesting city, an aspirational city, for reasons including what you mentioned. Just putting this out here.
