US-centric SJW bafflers (mentions slurs)

(Anonymous) 2015-06-06 11:15 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't think anything I typed below is surprising. Just wanted to share.

I'm in my early 20s and live in an Asian country where the majority is ethnic group X. It's neither white nor white-passing. I have encountered some social circles where people in my age bracket habitually use the n-word both in a loose 'dude'-type sense and as an insult. But not to anyone black in person. There are hardly any black people here.

One girl (of group X) in one of those circles was a fan of A$AP Rocky and seemed to be SJ-aware, at in the sense that she took part in (fairly simple) feminist discussions on Facebook.

Another was my ex-colleague, a dark-skinned Indian girl who said the n-word every other day. But I guess that was only her second favourite word, because she said 'faggot' practically every day in both friendly ribbing and genuine insults. Including to one friend of hers, who was a lesbian (group X) and didn't mind, even using it herself.

Then there was another ex-colleague, who was older than me and of ethnic group Y (sizeable minority, also not white or white-passing). He was gay and out of the closet in the office and to at least some friends and family, but it wasn't public knowledge. One day he thought it was funny to do an impersonation of a sassy American black ghetto single mother stereotype. I have no idea of the context and doubt it was malicious, but I was just puzzled to suddenly hear that. Others lapped it up, though.

Also, that guy did get the first ex-colleague to stop saying 'faggot'. But only while in the office.

Now about me. I'm X-passing but actually of a renowned strain of filthy, job-stealing foreign invaders. Yet another ex-colleague once said over lunch with me and some others how terrible it is he can't hear English in [high street area] because of all the people of my ethnic group hanging out there on their days off. A couple of others pointed out how un-PC that was, but the rest laughed or joined in. I just laughed uncomfortably. It's an awkward gift.

Wasn't there a whole resulting thread from a secret last week about how talking behind people's backs is shitty and "it's ok, they won't find out about it" is a feeble excuse that's usually untrue?

What you and your friends do is talking behind backs on an international level. And you're that person who just told the people who were being talked about. Congrats.

What is the point of this post? Are you asking for advice? Is it a question? Why should we care about your random friends?

Yeah...the US-centrism of SJWs kind of gets on my nerves.

Especially when they act like the US is TEH WORST EVER

No -- other countries are equally shitty in different ways.

And I find the whole "hierarchy" bullshit that SJWs do to be annoying because everything is so context dependent.

It's funny to me that for people who are all about equality, they sure don't hesitate to impose their morality on the rest of the world.

"It's funny to me that for people who are all about equality, they sure don't hesitate to impose their morality on the rest of the world."

Yes yes, a much worse stance than the thread OP's, who doesn't seem to care about equality and still doesn't hesitate to impose their (lack of) morality on the rest of the world.

Regardless of what OP does, that doesn't make SJWs who act like the whole world = the US any less of hypocrites.
