What's your price? If the sky was the limit and some extremely wealthy, but sadistic rich person offered you any amount of money to do something truly heinous to another person (who could be any age), do you have a price range where you would give in. Or do you know you have your limits and no amount of money could change it.

There are some things for which no amount of money would compel me to do them. If that's an answer to your question.

Assuming I have no chance of being caught?

No limits.

I think $1M or so would be starting for instant, painless murder and from there the price would range according to what was asked.

I would turn around and donate all that money to other people in need and keep none of it, because I think the benefits to all those people would outweigh one life. If someone else were available to do the murder I would be willing to trade places and get murdered instantly and painlessly if it meant $1M goes to children in need, so no hypocrisy here.

I do think this is, in a lot of ways, a surprisingly good way of getting at the fundamental different between utilitarianism and deontology.

If you think that there is any amount of money for which you would rape someone, you're a utilitarian. If you don't, you're a deontologist.

Call me a utilitarian, then, because I think there are amounts of money for which it would be awful and irresponsible of you to refuse. Imagine all the rape you could stop and victims you could support or prevent from becoming victims in the first place with $100 trillion dollars.

Assuming the money is real and can be used that way, by refusing, I would be saying that my personal honor code or my immortal soul is worth more than that and all those people. I can't accept that.

I don't think I could do anything unless it was like a quick, painless murder. And I'd probably murder someone for like...3 million.

Is there any chance I could get caught?

If there is, that's going to seriously curtail what I'd be willing to do.

I think there are many, many things I wouldn't do for any amount of money, because I would hate myself for it and it would eat away at me for the rest of my (probably very short) life.

Plus, I just know there are certain things I wouldn't be able to make myself do in the first place.

Depends on how much I'm offered and what I'm expected to do. There's a certain threshold, after which one million more or less doesn't make a difference, and is therefore not worth the effort. I could also make a deal with the victim to share profits with them.

If I can re-invest it for utilitarian purposes? That becomes a complicated question with a lot of factors to way up.

For entirely selfish reasons? Don't have a price.

If it would be torture of an innocent...honestly, I'm not sure I could for any price.

If said person was a killer or mobster or whatever....I might have a price, though it would still be very high. Basically: I could live off this comfortably for the rest of my life sort of high.

Nope. I have limits that no amount of money would change.

I have some pretty hard lines I won't cross when it comes to children.

But I think I could eventually be convinced with several million to get rid of someone who is actively a threat at that particular time...

I honestly think there are things I would never do for any price.

What good is money if I'd never be able to live with myself?

Money is not worth more than integrity.

Mind, I'm not in a position right now where I *need* money to survive. (Whether it's even a good thing that we live in a world where humans do need money to survive is a somewhat different discussion.) If I were desperate, either for myself or - perhaps more compellingly - for my as-of-yet-nonexistent children, then then the game might change. But it's hard to say whether it would or how much since I haven't been in that position, and I still doubt I'd be happy with it or guilt-free.

Depends on what they want me to do to the other person. Like say, punching an elder or a baby is something I'd never dare to do.
