I feel a bit guilty that I’ve spent the times I had the most leisure time on consuming fanwork instead of making it.

I'm not going to lie, my first thought was that you were talking about the AUTHOR of Lackadaisy. I thought maybe some scandal had erupted about her, a la the "Hanna is Not a Boy's Name" creator. Then I read further and was relieved.

More on topic: The only thing I really disliked her for was forging a check from Wick. That just felt, I don't know, even MORE illegal than running a speakeasy to me. Maybe because forging/stealing money is still a crime and selling alcohol isn't?

Hmm, I wouldn't say they aren't allowed, but I have seen people come into really fucked up fandoms and want fluff and so much pleasantness that it feels OOC. Maybe because the source material is already so dark, they want something different?

I agree if a canon is screwed up then it makes perfect sense for the fandom to go along with it, but people are going to do what they want. *shrugs*

(This secret reminded me of everything I've heard of the Hannibal fandom. I've never actually seen people defend Hannibal or write Hannibal/Will fluff, but I spend very little time in that fanbase. I would LOVE some canon-compliant fic for that fandom, but I never think to look.)

Growing up, I never had a lot of female friends. Even now, it's a struggle to connect to other girls.

"Love Live!" helped me realize the reason why I love idol groups so much: they are the friends I could pretend I have instead of facing the reality that I have none.

Weirdly, I just watched this this morning.

It was pretty alright. I thought Anna was a surprisingly realistic 12-year-old girl, both in appearance and behavior, too.

I hadn't read any fic in close to a decade until these books got their hooks into me. I just read them, and I don't think they're the greatest sci-fi ever*, but damn if they haven't stayed with me. I haven't felt that desperate "it feels wrong to not be reading more in this universe" sensation in longer than I can remember. It's not a feeling I miss, but I guess I can't complain about enjoying a series, right? October and Ancillary Mercy feel so far away...

*S!B these books are among the greatest or most overrated sci-fi novels of recent years, depending on who you talk to.
