Well I agree that Sebastian's approach to sex is defining for his character, so I don't think that's fair criticism (though I still wish he would've been bi like everyone else, even if chaste). I didn't know Sebastian got crap for his chastity, I mostly just don't like him for who he is as a person. He's an interesting contrast to the other characters, but as a DLC character he was pretty underwhelming, imo, especially since he was the only character who would absolutely leave you at the end of the game if you didn't kill Anders, even if he was up to 100%.

There's a lot of off-hand commenting on the chastity, or at least has been in places I've looked. I wouldn't mind if people just went ahead and wrote Sebastian smut or something, that's what fanfics are for. But putting chastity as a character flaw or something to be fixed just rubs me the wrong way.

I found it actually nice that Sebastian would leave you. I wish more characters would do that. It makes me feel more like the characters don't wholly revolve around me. But different strokes for different folks, and that is a fair critique. I think his writing could have been way better, but then again I had problem connecting with all of the cast in DA2 because of the limited and scheduled cut-scenes.

I definitely agree it's not a character flaw. And there is something to be said about Sebastian not "revolving around you" at the end of the game. I guess what I just like to see most in a character-driven RPG is the ability to alter your companions and even drastically change them, or have the ability to change or affect them to some extent. With that reasoning, it might've been interesting, if you play your cards just right, to be able to have wild kinky sex with Sebastian, or make him stay. I know Dragon Age 2 did this to some extent, but due to how rushed the game was, there was little you could do that actually affected anything big scale. It was nice to have "crisis" moments where characters could leave you, betray you, or be betrayed by you, but I think more possible outcomes with how they progress would be far more interesting.

For example, I really liked how "hardening" Leliana or Alistair in Origins could actually affect their dialogue, responses, and possible endings. And "hardening" wasn't as simple as rivaling them or something, it involved very specific subplots, in which you had to pick very specific responses - very easy to miss or never even know about. I think such a system would've been cool for Sebastian. For a DLC character is just felt like you should have more options with him, but it really rather felt like he was just a regular character.
