I go to another UK university that's ranked as one of the best, and the old schools like Oxford and Cambridge have a reputation for being... well, really stuffy. Like, of course they are "good", but they are a massive old boys' club and don't tend to encourage much creativity in thought. I didn't go myself, but the stereotypes were confirmed by some classmates that went there for the undergrad. They are very "rigid" and traditional. Which in academia, can be good or absolutely terrible.

Cambridge is really beautiful, though. I actually had a spiritual moment attending mass in King's College Chapel, and I'm mostly Buddhist. Dat Latin singing, them candles...

The whole place makes my university look like a sad wannabe, and it's one of the oldest, most "elite" schools in the States.
