I can tell a story from my own childhood. When I fell from a bike and started crying a passerby trying to console me said:
- Don't cry, you're a boy.
Me, wailing:
- I'm a girl.

I was offended. My mom suggested wearing some hair accessory. I don't think I did though.

Also I heard parents telling kids to say hello to a girl who turned out to be a boy and wise wersa.

Right, but you were only offended because of the problematic way we treat gender which is in part created by leading to gendering children when they're infants.
