Re: Strong Light Bike Lock
(Anonymous) 2015-06-08 12:33 am (UTC)(link)I use the Abus in combination with a long cable lock. The Abus is the deterrent, so it's the part that needs to be threaded through the frame of the bike and around something immobile. The cable lock can be cut, just like any other cable lock, but if they can't get through the main lock easily, often they'll move on to an easier bike.
As for the weight, I wasn't too struck on it, but the thought of having my bike stolen is much worse. I have panniers attached to my bike and carry my lock in there. Can you maybe add a bike rack? It's a lot easier to cart it around on the bike than to have that weight in your backpack.
Re: Strong Light Bike Lock
(Anonymous) 2015-06-08 02:17 am (UTC)(link)I have a basket on my bicycle (that I can actually remove and carry with me so no one steals my helmet), but I tend to use it for my purse/backpack hybrid thing. I'd love to be able to attach another rack to the back of the bike but I don't think they make them for 24" bikes. The chain I have now is convenient in that it wraps around the frame without giving me any trouble; I'm not sure how I would transport a bigger lock...
