eh, I go to Gen Con by myself and I have a great time. Of course this may be, or in fact certainly is, almost entirely because I spend most of my time at the Konami tables playing YGO. It's just like locals! only much bigger and with more people and random fun shit.

However I do also love artists' alley, the dealer room and just crowd-watching/admiring all the cool cosplay. It's more fun with people, but also really fun by myself.

Depends on the con and your interests, I suppose.
