Ah, and there's the rub, isn't it, not caring about the world?

To be fair, while it's a unique take on the well-worn zombie apocalypse genre, outside of the peculiarities of the mushroomheads compared to the average zombie it's still pretty much a zombie apocalypse genre story, yeah?

Still, though, while I do think Joel and Ellie's story is over, I feel like there's still at least one or two more stories in this series.

On one hand I love both Ellie and Joel so much that I would love to play with them some more in a new story, but on the other I agree that the story ended on a perfect (if a bit ambiguous) spot. And really, the second hand weighs out the first by far.

That being said, I feel like there could be a lot more stories in the Last of Us universe so I wouldn't mind getting something not focused on Joel and Ellie (or maybe something about Joel between the prologue and Summer, though I honestly really like that they just allude for the most part to what he did in the in-between)

Right now I really just hope the movie will be good.

I totally agree about there being so many other stories to tell. I'm slightly obsessed with wanting to see something about the people that lived in that sewer area you have to travel through. It had a school room/daycare room! It seemed like they were ready for the long term but ??? (Unless it gets some more explanation in the remastered version? Otherwise I might finally write a fic about it.)

I don't think it gets any more explanation for it in the remastered version (unless Ish's notes are not part of the original, but I doubt that). Can't remember that at least. But man I would love a DLC at least of Ish's story.

If you write a fic, please link it here! c:

There's a note in one of the houses you explore after you escape the sewers that says that they got overrun because someone left a door open one day and it compromised their security measures.

Here's a link to the note explaining what happened:

Ooo, is this his last note? I can't remember seeing anything after that. I WILL agree with this; if we could have a game following Ish's story that would be amazing, but since it's already been chronicled I'm not sure ND would do it. (Though there are certainly enough interested gamers, and they could always expand on it...)

It's probably unlikely, though.

Oh, I totally missed that note too! Now I'm even more fascinated by the possibilities and Ish's story.

I really might take a stab at writing something. x3

Yea, if that's the end of his notes...there's every possibility that there's more to tell. Which is kind of exciting.

You should write it! Never read fic in this fandom, but I'd be willing to give something about Ish a shot.

I wouldn't say I'm uninterested in the world, but as good as the writing in this game was I don't think the world itself was all that different from every other post-apocalyptic tale. (Which isn't to say it isn't still an impressive game, because it takes a pretty cliche story and cast and nails the execution in such a way that it feels really special.)

There are always going to be more stories in these verses, but the thing is...to me The Last of Us was very much the story of how Joel and Ellie were brought together, survived a harsh environment (lol, understatement) and became family. (I mean, of course there was also "Man is the true monster", "Are there some things you can't come back from?", etc, but Joel and Ellie were crucial to those themes and the story felt very personal.) Everything else was secondary to their bond, so I don't think another game is necessary. (If it follows Ellie or Joel again. As far as I'm concerned, their story is over.)

If Naughty Dog wants to do another game set in this verse and follow another group of survivors, then yea, I would play it, but I am also fine with that game not existing.

(Also, it would probably be very, very hard to top TLOU. Not that ND doesn't have some experience with that Uncharted 2, but...idk.)
