Anything that involved teen characters, imagining them as adults.

It didn't work for Buffy (even if that was a continuation of the series and not really a sequel - but I do sort of consider seasons 1-3 and seasons 4-7 two different shows, maybe even 5-7 with 4 as an interlude), it really didn't work for the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, don't even get me started on Archie...

The problem is, imho, that creators either realize they can be darker and edgier now, OR they think adulthood = throw in every bad adult situation. Or just make everything as contrived as hell.
