What, so what would you do besides anime-focused stuff? Tea ceremony? Bonsai? A yukata room? Shodo? That stuff is just as tacky in its own way, and 99% of it nobody cares about it except niche hobbiests and tourists in Japan. And God, I'll be happy if I never see another awkward white guy in a yukata ever again.

Much better to do something relevant that young people actually are interested in both here and in Japan... and a lot of Japanese people read manga.

The only other thing I think would be nice at an event like that is a martial arts demonstration - that's something else people would give a shit about. Or maybe an origami room, that would be fun for kids.

Our local sakura festival had an interesting presentation on slang in different areas of Japan a couple years ago - different words, their development, the particular ways some of them were written out (or shorthanded) and why. It was actually pretty fascinating stuff.

That sort of depends on having someone who can actually make a presentation like that though...
