Jesus, Soviet Russia entered Poland two weeks after Germany. Officialy "to protect Russian-speaking population" from the Nazis ("protection" involved arresting and killing members of Polish military). Unofficially, to get their part of Poland - the part that Hitler agreed to hand over to them beforehand. In August 1939 Russian and German foreign ministers signed a protol that stated clearly who gets which part of Eastern Europe (see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Molotov%E2%80%93Ribbentrop_Pact ) It was a fucking conquest from the start. I'm really, really surprised that this seems doubtful to anybody at this point.
