OP

I know. That isn't what I said, though. I'm glad he's alive and recovering well, but the idea that he might not be the comic genius he was before doesn't bother me because I never thought he was a comic genius.

Agree. I hated his comedy.

Well, but the loss of his comedic talent is concomitant with his suffering as a person, so I hope you can understand why I would read your statement that it wasn't really a bad thing in the way that I did.

Agreed.

(Anonymous) 2015-06-09 11:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Yup. The loss of his essential personhood is traumatic, no matter whether OP thought he was funny or not.

DA

Except he didn't lose his "essential personhood" just because he happens to now be disabled, you unspeakably abhorrent SJWs.

Are you serious? He has some speech, physical and cognitive issues due to his accident. What "essential personhood" are you talking about? You are aware that disabled people are still people, right?

His thing is being funny- making people laugh. Suddenly no longer being the person you've been for most of your life can be incredibly traumatic- on top of all the trauma that caused the loss in the first place. He's still a person, but he's not the same person he was before.

Yes, comedy is how Tracy Morgan made his living. And now that livelihood is probably gone.
