Half question half writing prompt.
What's the most touching story you can tell me in less than 100 words?

There was a girl. She passed from friendship to friendship, but never found a soul mate. She loved and it was unrequited. She aspired but was conspired against, in turn, by fate. She never wed, and never bore a child, and her dreams did not come true.

So is the course of the human life: she was carried through it with few lovers and fewer loves, yet with a never-wavering smile. Even as she died she was smiling still, because though her life was without conventional things, it was not without beauty.

I have to crawl out of the box. Bit by bit. Inch by inch. But I’m so tired and the thought of having to do this for another sixty years is unbearable. Please please please let things get better. I just want to disappear. Nothing’s wrong but I want to disappear. There’s no reason for me to feel this way so grow up and take care of your problems. Your “problems.” As though you’ve ever faced real hardship, you whiny, pathetic cunt. Maybe if you weren’t so fucking useless, you wouldn’t feel this way.

“I’m doing fine, Mom.”

He gathered the small furry thing to his chest and held it there, nestling it beneath his shirt and letting his body heat melt into the tiny lump of flesh and bone. It was still so cold and still.

He knew he couldn’t have a pet - he’d never looked after one before, didn’t know what to do.

The pathetic little creature was probably gone already, anyway.

Never had a chance. He never did anything right, after all.

A shiver of fur. A tiny purr vibrating against his breastbone.

There’s a first time for everything.
