in re: 1 and 2, you are asking for a sacrifice of money in legal fees and of reputation, and both of those are real things. It's a hell of a lot to ask someone to let everyone in their community consider them a bastard rapist. There's a real cost to that. Even leaving aside the risk of jail time, which if you think there's no chance of an innocent person being convicted you have far more faith in the legal system than I do.

in re: 3, I think people should be feminists because I think it's a just and moral position. I would not think that feminism could be considered in any way just or moral if feminism actually required this.
