because that comes with a whole different set of issues. also, and I realize that not every trans man shares this opinion, as someone who is FtM, I find the idea of pregnancy extremely unsettling and dysphoria inducing. it honestly kind of creeps me out when people have all these headcanons that are like "imagine trans![insert character] getting pregnant and having [whoever's] children uWu" just...ugh

I'm given to understand from my learnings that you're in the majority of transmen, trans anon.

Not that there's ever been a study on it, but it's pretty well understood that genital/sexual dysphoria (re: ovulation, pregnancy, menstruation, gynecological exam) is a facet of life that causes a lot of distress.

ayrt

Yeah, most trans men I know share the same opinion but I wanted to add that in just in case someone wanted to reply and be like "Well there are SOME trans men out there who choose to have children and blah blah blah" because that always comes up every time I mention this (not on here though)

I can think of several cases where transmen have chosen to have children (quite publically) and one or two where it has been a private issue that I'm aware of. In every case I've ever seen the pregnancy was described as "the most awful time of my life".

So... while I don't doubt there are people out there who identify as transmen and would be fine with being pregnant, I pretty much have to agree with you. It's not a usual thing, and definitely not something that people (i.e. fic writers) should expect would be totally awesome happy funtimes.

OP:

I've though about writing "realistic" mpreg (i.e. Coulson being trans or some type of intersex where pregnancy is possible and viable) (I'm into the pregnancy aspect because I like to explore the vulnerability involved with that)

As somebody who personally knows people who are trans, I know that ignoring the difficulties that would be involved in a situation like this would be extremely insensitive (not to mention really fucking unrealistic)

Coulson's a character who has been established to have a desire for a family, so I don't feel like it'd been entirely out of question for him to himself on the line for the chance of having a child (although I very much doubt he would intentionally get pregnant or go forward with it if he had any doubt the child would be able to grow up in a safe environment)

If I ever got around to writing this, it'd definitely not be a thing I'd be able to do lightly.
