Yup, that's how I feel, though in my case the difference is sixteen years.

It also amazes me when people say the huge age difference is why they weren't close - I think that helped, in a lot of ways. Like you said, there wasn't a lot of sibling rivalry, and she was always willing to do things with me. Also, yes, she totally got me into certain interests.

it depends on the exact difference AND the time period

it's usually problematic when one is a teenager going through Deep Hardcore Teen Woes and the other is too young to understand and just wants to play and be loud and be nosy (you know, usual kid stuff)

if the older sibling is old enough to have learned patience and pespective and no longer a walking hormone cocktail to be able to exert that patience, it's usually not that big a deal

NAYRT - OTOH, sometimes the problem comes in when the much older sister becomes an adult (or more of an adult). There was a ten year difference with mine and once she hit twenty five, suddenly she stopped having a sense of humor and started lecturing me like I was a kid. I know now that adulthood kicked her in the ass and it wasn't about me, and that I was a kid, but at fifteen it hurt. A lot.
