so the new Anita Blake book came out yesterday

And now I'm reading it, knowing full well I lost my patience for this series when Micah raped Anita back in Narcissus in Chains, only for LKH to rewrite that scene in the book because we can't have anyone thinking precious baby Micah is a rapist.

Please tell me someone else has a bad case of train wreck syndrome over this series, because my mother likes it better now that it's fallen into "I wrote better smut when I was twelve" territory. Though on the upside, no one's fucking anyone yet, I'd take that as a good sign, but I know better.

I have never read a single one of these, but I know all about the lolarity from blogs and fandom stuff.

The internet is a magical thing.

I started reading them when they were still good. My brain has this problem where it won't let me just stop with things, so I'm just hoping they'll go back to being good and the last... fourteen books? will all have just been a bad dream. Or that Jean Claude has been mind controlling Anita since they're told from her perspective.

Well, the fact that lkh_lashouts is a thing that existed and still exists, I'd say you are not alone.

I think my favorite bits of the series were around Danse Macrebre (or however it's spelled). It had just jumped the shark a couple book back and everything was still so new and OMG LKH WTF ARE YOU DOING. There are still moments like that, but I think a bunch of the bad stuff has become dead horses to poke out.

I have this theory that, any time you have a supernatural canon, things will immediately go to shit once you introduce the idea of werepanthers.

So far, I've been completely right.
