I am way more hardcore about free speech than you, and even I think this is fucking stupid.

This is not a free speech issue. These people are simply being asses, and someone is telling them not to be asses around their shit. There's no conceivable way to justify this as a free speech issue.

exactly.

they just want to be able to act like asses without experiencing the consequences of their actions. unfortunately, reddit is a website. it has rules. if you don't follow the rules, you get banned. NOT AN ANARCHIST UTOPIA.

Yeah, seriously. Reddit's a private company.

Look: it's hilarious (and horrifying) how awful the fatpeoplehate folks are/were. As in the fat people stories thread on 4chan's /fit/ is nicer. It's NICER. On 4chan!

Meanwhile people on this subreddit were doing things like compiling the okcupid account pictures of fat people (for the nerve of being on the site, apparently), making fun of weight loss progress pictures they thought hadn't gone far enough, and the final straw was apparently harassing Imgur staff after they banned pictures from the forum.

so they violated the cardinal rule of any website "DON'T PISS OFF THE MODS!"
