I know there are people on F!S who have massive issues with the "trash" terminology, but I'm with you OP - I see it as tongue-in-cheek self-deprication and shows that people aren't taking their shipping too seriously.

Angry and hateful "SRS BSNS!" shippers are much, much more of a turn off than people using the term "trash".

People say I'm a lot like Phoebe too and, while I like her as a character, I would rather be Rachel. She has her flaws but she has the best development over the series and I'd love to be able to go from unemployed and financially dependent to strong business executive before I'm thirty.

Hell, at the moment I'd be happy enough being a waitress.

as someone who ships it... i can't offer you any answers, sorry.

it is completely baffling to me. and yet i am writing fic for it. i just don't know.

to be fair, i DO ship them aged up and i guess it sorta ties into future fic speculation and crossovers for me?

apart from that... idk if it's tumblr demographics, but a lot of the people shipping it seem fairly young. in that sense the ship reminds me a lot of the time The Lorax came out and there was a bizarre amount of fic for the Onceler.

Aw, I loved Star Ocean 3, and loved this pairing, too. Back in the day I admit I did read seme!Albel and uke!Fayt, just because that was what was out there and hey, my shallow self enjoys all the terrible yaoi. But it'd be interesting to see a fic that actually attempted to write the actual characters.
