I... I don't think I like potato salad THAT much.

(Anonymous) 2015-06-11 11:29 pm (UTC)(link)
No one does, that's the joke

"It's because Cena is generally considered to be bland and uninteresting as a character and in-ring talent, and so, he is the wrestling-equivalent of a potato salad."

likely why anon doesn't think their secrets would be interesting

I want to know what kind of potato salad these people are eating. Honestly, though, whoever thinks Cena is "uninteresting" has never seen him turn a crowd from "Cena sucks" to "Let's go Cena." It's truly a wonder to behold sometimes. Than man can rock a mic.

Unless that's the joke? That potato salad is actually awesome? (because it is)

(Anonymous) 2015-06-11 11:39 pm (UTC)(link)
The joke is more that everyone likes potato salad to some degree, nobody hates it, but it's nobody's favorite either. It's the safe option while you wait for better more interesting things to eat

This thread is dumb. I'm sorry

[personal profile] fingalsanteater 2015-06-11 11:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Not true. I will readily and happily eat potato salad over many other picnic food options, especially baked beans. I actually would call potato salad a favorite?

Damn it, this thread is making me hungry.

I feel like I'd rather have pasta salad or egg salad over potato salad

Potato salad is definitely better than macaroni, though, and pretty good in its own right

Pasta salad always runs the risk of being dry or oily though.

Potato forever!

....I don't even like wrestling, I just like picnic salads.

I don't care either way about the joke but the potato salad thing is a running joke among WWE fans. I was only communicating info for people who might not get that Cena anon was referring to Cena since I'm guessing most people here wouldn't recognize the reference

I like potato salad the food. I'm hungry too

No, this thread is actually perfect

(Anonymous) 2015-06-12 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
Good potato salat is an art form. And with barbecue? Yum-my! And I'm going barbecuing tomorrow!

Can I come? I need some good bbq now but I'm so broke. I'm down to my dried beans. :(

"I've wined and dined with kings and queens, and I've slept in alleys and ate pork and beans." --Dusty Rhodes

So it seems fitting we move from potato salad to beans... RIP, the American Dream.

Aw why'd you have to bring that up. ;___; I just watched the ppv where him and Dean went at it and Goldust/Cody won the tag team belts.

Came for the talk of noncon/dubcon/etc, stayed for the potato salad conversation!

You can have all mine. I can't eat anything with salad in its name.

(Anonymous) 2015-06-12 06:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Potato salad is honestly one of my least-favorite foods. I can't stand cold potatoes and pretty much every other ingredient is something I hate.

I also cannot stand pasta salad or baked beans. Picnics and potlucks are fun for me....

Egg salad and tuna salad are fine, though.

"Than man can rock a mic."

Really? I haven't watched in about ten years or whatever, and dude was awful at the mic despite his popularity. It's nice to know he has gained since by now.

(Anonymous) 2015-06-12 07:53 am (UTC)(link)
DA

It probably depends on how you define mic skills, to be honest. He hasn't changed much, but I'd say he's gotten very skilled at grabbing the energy of the crowd, be it positive or negative, and transforming and channeling it. Like, his introduction of Sami Zayn in Montreal. The crowd was crazy to see Sami and booing him at first, and he turned all that energy around by pointing out all the ways Montreal epitomizes "Never give up." He picked out a guy wearing a Nordiques shirt and was like "That team left in 1996, but he hasn't given up! None of you do!" By the end of the speech they were cheering, because he made it about cheering their own spirits, not cheering him. It's not everyone's cup of tea, but he's good at what he does.
