Re: I finally got a tumblr account...
(Anonymous) 2015-06-11 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)And reblogging puts the post on my own page but liking doesn't? Can you delete posts? And if it's reblogged, then me deleting the post wouldn't remove it from their page, right?
(Sorry, super newbie here.)
Re: I finally got a tumblr account...
Liking just puts it your Likes that (usually) only you can see. You can delete any posts off your Tumblr and it doesn't effect the original poster (or people that reblog from you) in any way. :D

(Anonymous) 2015-06-12 12:13 am (UTC)(link)Also, I was wondering if you knew anything about side-blogs? If you make one, is it connected to your account in an obvious way? Or would only you know about it if you didn't publicize it?
Re: I finally got a tumblr account...
Oh, sort of important. When you Like something it goes into your Likes. BUT if the person who Liked it deletes it from their account, it disappears from your Likes BUT the number stays there. So, my Likes are empty but it says I have like 60 Likes because of deletions. It isn't going to hurt anything but it is really annoying.

(Anonymous) 2015-06-12 12:17 am (UTC)(link)(Likes are like kudos on AO3, right?)
Re: I finally got a tumblr account...
I use Likes to store stuff I want to reblog (or queue) when I get home.

(Anonymous) 2015-06-12 12:24 am (UTC)(link)One thing about sideblogs (as least afaik, but I haven't used Tumblr in a while so this may have changed), you can receive asks that come in for a sideblog, but you can't reply with that blog -- you can only reply or send asks with your main/primary blog.
If you're not planning on interacting much then that probably won't be super important to you, but it's useful to know beforehand anyway.

(Anonymous) 2015-06-12 12:29 am (UTC)(link)Re: I finally got a tumblr account...
(Anonymous) 2015-06-12 02:51 am (UTC)(link)You can rename the main account with one of the sideblog names (if you change the sideblog name first so that it's available on the system) but you can't promote a sideblog to your main blog in terms of the account functionality (e.g. the not being able to send asks thing, and I believe you can't follow accounts from a sideblog either - although others can follow your sideblog, just not with their sideblogs, if that makes sense).
