It's an interesting selection of characters from my point of view - well, the Vriska and the Nynaeve parts, at least, I don't know about MLP at all - because I simultaneously LOVE Nynaeve - she's probably my favorite character in the whole series - while at the same time I absolutely can't stand Vriska to the point that it was one of the things that made me stop reading Homestuck.

I don't know why, but those characters don't read at all similar, to me.

Actually, thinking about it, I feel like Karkat actually ends up pushing a lot of the same buttons for me that Nynaeve does (and I love Karkat).

That's really interesting because Karkat is easily my second favorite character and also my patron troll! The things I love about him, though, are VERY different from the things I love about Vriska.

Also Vriska is a character where I can completely understand people disliking her because she's honestly a jerk. A really big jerk. I was so disappointed when there was a potential for her to be redeemed and then it never panned out, and now it feels like she's become a caricature (which has also happened to RD) and there will never be a chance for redemption, plus she's become much flatter and less interesting to me. Basically before she was an interesting part of the Troll Crew, now she feels like a gag character who will never change. :(

Also, while on the surface there are a few things that Vriska and Nynaeve have in common - they're both loud, somewhat self-important, powerful (though they struggle with their power in completely different ways - Vriska by letting it make her overconfident, Nynaeve by not being able to control it), and easily angered...while those things are true, they are at heart very different people. So I was being kinda facetious when I lumped the three of them in together. They all fit a similar trope on the outside, but there is of course more to it than that.

ANYWAY! Hi fellow Nynaeve fan! Tell me what you love about Nynaeve *chinhands* :3

I'm suuuuper about to crash, so this is probably not as eloquent as I'd like, but what I love most about her is that she just gives a shit so much about everything. She just cares so much and she'll take on all the responsibility in the world if she needs to without even a second thought, and she doesn't even realize it about herself. Also she's so casually brave, where she doesn't even think of herself being brave, she just goes and does something dangerous and hard instinctively, because it needs doing. And also she's funny and smart and and and and

Gosh she's great. Gosh now I want to go back and reread every Nynaeve scene, lol.

heeeee yes.

She has one of the strongest senses of right and wrong in the series and I love that. <3

She really grows and masters her flaws, and learns more things about herself, and changes her worldview. But she never compromises the things that matter the most, and she's not afraid to be honest about herself and what she really wants. (I love the scene where she acknowledges that she would choose Lan over the White Tower if it came to that. It's a risky thing for her to admit given what the Tower demands of its members.)

And she's just a total badass.
