SA Did the rig explode? I've found images of flames, but they're from the intakes. Given the director's propensity for explosions, I don't see that he would have baulked at blowing the rig up if he wanted to. I've seen the film twice, and I didn't see Nux falling out of the driver's door when it swung open - and it didn't have to swing open, could just as easily have stayed closed unless it was open to show no falling Nux. Not sure of the timing but I think he might have been able to scramble out of the passenger side after setting the rig on its final course. He was a superlative driver, after all.

It didn't explode - at least not that we ever see before the spinning steering wheel flies at the camera and the scene ends. There is a falling body, but it's definitely Rictus falling off the hood and not Nux falling out of the cab.
