I must admit, I do not get the hate either. All I can think of is that the audience thought it was going to be an action movie and and marketing screwed up in making them realize it wasn't. I suppose that is understandable now that superhero movie and action movie are synonymous, still depressing though.

Really? I thought they were the most out of place element. They looked more like something from a particularly dark Henson production. I don't think we needed stilt people to demonstrate a toxic swamp. Still, worldbuilding and fanfic fuel I suppose.

Just speaking personally, the thing that got me about that scene was that it happened even though I'd maxed out Makoto and Ronaldo's S.Links. Makoto had, at that point in the story, personally saved some of Ronaldo's followers and decided that she would start following her own moral code, and Ronaldo had come to a similar conclusion and realized that his approach to fighting JPs was too ruthless and inflexible and he needed to be more willing to see them as people etc. etc.

And then like an hour later, BAM, he's all set and raring to go to kill Makoto. Who, again, had just a few hours ago protected his people. Rather than just knock her out or immobilize her or anything like that.

Granted it's a big flaw in the writing that the S. Links don't really carry into the main game in general, but even being aware of that, the result still makes him come across as really gross and untrustworthy. (Like, Yamato was also really awful, but you could at least always trust him to be consistently awful.)

I sympathize, OP. I was never suicidal, but I was deeply grief-stricken/possibly-depressed for a longish stretch of time once. Weirdly enough, what I read obsessively then was fic where a character dies and someone who really really loved him/her commits suicide out of grief. I have no idea why this made me feel better, but it did.

When I first read this comic, I did not expect that ending (I don't think anyone did).

What scares me is that I know someone who is a weeaboo, she will do exactly this - especially if it's a girl.

The secret is I really hope she never has a child, especially a girl. She sexually harasses her friends, even when they tell her to stop. She uses her friends as emotional crutches, and gets jealous when they have their own lives and lovers. She can never handle a child.
