It would be nice if people would occasionally remember that cops also protect people from racism as well, though.

It's one of the reasons I'll never be able to support blanket statements.

True. But the thing is, it isn't just random, individual cops who are causing the problem. There are problems inherent to police culture itself that are causing the excess violence that is aimed much more highly at African Americans.
