Actually, callout culture has made it so it's NOT okay to fuck up. Not unless you want to risk being someone's by-name punching bag in their weekly rant about how awful everyone is

isn't that what they implied when they said that callout culture was causing people to be too afraid to write certain things and results in less diversity?

My point is in that social climate is disingenuous to exhort people to post stuff and say "it's okay to fuck up!" Because it isn't, unless being the target of a pile on and permanently assigned a reputation for being a racist idiot is a non issue for you.

Oddly for most people it's an issue.

but the point is that it shouldn't be an issue to fuck up. it's okay to fuck up and therefore people shouldn't jump down others' throats for it.

I think everyone in this subthread actually agrees with that, and the question is whether you should write it anyway.

anon from above:

Actually my point is whether it's fair to exhort OTHER PEOPLE to write (and POST, which is the important part) it anyway. Which is slightly different.

But the fact remains that they do jump down others' throats for it, and sometimes all their friends join in with the public flaying. God forbid some people should like a quiet life.
