"13. wait what? whats so horrible about someone drawing a character as an animal?"

If it were JUST drawing a character as an animal, it wouldn't be so bad. But you see, let me break it down for you...

Imagine Cloud Strife drawn as a horse. And he's fellating himself on his giant horsey sausage while Gordon Freeman of Half-Life fame (here depicted as a fox) drives his canine phallus forcefully into Cloud's rectum.

There's a fine line between idle anthropomorphism and outright furry. THAT is furry. It should be obvious precisely what would get Final Fantasy and Half Life fans up in arms about that little example, right?

I should hope so.

Oh, for God's sake. This ridiculous attitude towards furries is pissing me off.

You know what? Some people are absolutely disgusted by the idea of, say, Gordon Freeman and Cloud Strife banging as humans (nevermind animals), but if someone went "OMG YAOI FANS GTFO MY FANDOM" then everyone would go "you suck" and "LOL, troll" - but since it involves furries suddenly it's a PERSONAL OFFENSE towards anyone involved in fandom.

Nobody is forcing you to look at furry porn. Just accept that it exists and move on. You are not the ultimate arbiter of what porn other people are allowed to enjoy.

"Nobody is forcing you to look at furry porn."

But you see, by my personal experience (and the experience of numerous others, hence the overwhelming resentment), furries just love to INTERJECT themselves where they're not wanted. I don't go out looking for furries, they reach out and post their dogman-on-dragonman man-preg artwork wherever they can, regardless of whether it was ever appropriate or not. If they DID just keep to themselves, there'd be a lot less hatred and a lot less discussion.

But they don't. They somehow expect that everyone on every website out there is just jonesing for manimal porn, and then get very vocally indignant when reality slaps them across the face.

"You are not the ultimate arbiter of what porn other people are allowed to enjoy."

Who said I was trying to command all porn everywhere ever? Who said I even gave a flip about porn? The trick is that furries love to POST THEIR PORN at every opportunity, regardless of whether anthropomorphism, porn, or anthropomorphic porn was ever appropriate for that site in the first place.

Repulsive imagery combines with an intrusive attitude to create a very obnoxious group of people. This, in turn, serves to create a very strong backlash against them. That's just how it is.

[identity profile] boogiepop-nagi.livejournal.com 2008-01-26 05:16 am (UTC)(link)
Just...because I feel I need an example. Does a website for import cars, in the mind of any rational human being, provoke a need to post porn of any kind on its message boards? No. But lo and behold, along came a fur, and with him came his "lovely" artwork of dragonmen porking cars right in the tailpipe.

On a website that *should* be family friendly.

THIS is why so many people so vocally hate furries. This is how they behave towards the rest of the human race.

[identity profile] pimmy.livejournal.com 2008-01-26 05:34 am (UTC)(link)
i assume its because a lot of them feel hated on. and end up doing stupid things like that. heck, everyone does stupid things. maybe some feel bitter and spiteful, maybe some are jsut idiots. they SHOULDNT do stupid crap like that, but they do, and like you as an example, garners more hate.

but hey, even other furries know a lot of them suck.

from my experience... wierd hobbies attract wierd people. not ALL of them are wierd, but a lot are.

for my own example: *points to icon* I like Kigurumi, anime character costumes. do i like porn of it? HECK no. but, being a strange hobby, it attracts strange people who DO like that sort of thing and have a fetish for it. but ya just deal with them and let them do their own thing, and hit the dumb ones on the head once in a while.

"manimal" omfg lols.

[identity profile] relmneiko.livejournal.com 2008-01-27 10:40 am (UTC)(link)
In my experience, furry is often against ToS. If someone comes in and posts furry porn, report them instead of bitching. DeviantArt doesn't allow porn of any kind and Y!Gallery doesn't allow furry - I don't know about other major sites, but it seems to me that the furry community tend to stick to their own kind. I've only encountered furry porn a couple times at the Y!gallery and never on DA. Every time, they get banned. I don't think this furry asshattery is as common as you're making it seem.

I'd seriously hate to take the jackassery of a couple of people and apply it to all furries. That kind of sweeping generalization is dangerous in any form.

[identity profile] momogirl12345.livejournal.com 2008-01-26 05:08 am (UTC)(link)
the term "furry" does NOT mean sexualized animals. Its a general term for anthropomorphic art, and those who draw it. I know, I've been around furries. Your definition is sort of...way off. WAY, way off.

[identity profile] gr0tesque.livejournal.com 2008-01-26 06:39 am (UTC)(link)
^what they said.

not ALL furries like or draw artwork like that.

i consider myself a furry and my furry art is FAR from that.

[identity profile] pimmy.livejournal.com 2008-01-26 05:09 am (UTC)(link)
so... porn? ok. ive seen people draw porn of series i like. ive seen futa and loli and inflation and tons of wierd crap being drawn about my favorite characters. i certainly dont LIKE porn of them, but does it ruin it for me? not one bit. does it make me angry? not really. what other people draw doesn't affect me and shouldnt.
