Re: Casuals vs Hardcore

I don't think that's the actual meaning of hardcore rather than casual? Historically it was used to dismiss facebook esque socially media driven simplisitc games (infamous for grinding), and has now come to refer to games like Dark Souls drawing from arcade style difficulty based on knowledge of the mechanics and quick twitch reactions.

Tbh I'm not sure really as some ppl in ARK are complaining the game is being catered to casuals... Because the night sky was lightened or it's possible to build a headlamp and there's talk about having pet taming take less time (basically you knock it out and sit there shoving drugs down its throat until it likes you).

Which baffles me cause none of this makes the game easier and if they were so concerned about challenges there are hard mode servers.
