I don't really like comics, even though I've spent far too much time reading manga and whatnot and I read various western comics during my youth.

I've variously picked up Spider Man, Batman, Venom, X-Men, Poison Elves, Johnny The Homicidal Maniac (and spinoffs), Naruto, BL stuff... and plenty of other things at one point or another and really the only two I found halfway interesting were JTHM and Naruto. But JTHM was also way too imagey and silly to really care about and Naruto went on way fucking longer than I could even bother to keep up with.

Oh well. I tried, man, I tried.

If you don't like comics then why even post in this thread? The OP was asking for favorites, not your self-absorbed whining.

Because, as I mentioned, I have read a fuckload of them.

I have even read the Army of Two comic spinoff just for curiosity's sake. Spoilers: It's everything you thought it would be.

But you have nothing to recommend. Your post is thoroughly useless to the OP or anyone else who might be looking for a comic to read. All you have done is push your ego onto everyone again so you can have a whine about how you don't like something the OP is looking for. Nobody fucking asked you if you liked comics or not. Nobody fucking cares.

If you can't post meaningful content, don't post at all.

Since I'm one of the only people in this entire thread actually having discussions about comics, I suggest you cry more.

The only discussions you've had about comics in this thread are you whining like a child about how you don't like comics and some barely-remembered thing about a single issue you read when you were a teenager. Useless to the OP.

I dare any 15 year old to not like stupid stuff.

I couldn't get into JTHM because it seemed too try-hard and endorsing the "everyone seemingly pleb is idiots but me" goffick trend. As an adult, finding out that Jhonen Vasquez actually wasn't intending to validate that sort of thing was hilarious to read about though. lol what a backfire

otoh, Squee was one of my favourite things during my highschool edge-lite phases. Actually, I still love the hell out of Squee.

Squee was some adorable fuckery.

JTHM is so completely ironic because of the aforementioned point though. The intention was to parody what Vasquez saw as the increasing commodification of goth subculture (which he was correct about: Hot Topic opened not five years after he wrote JTHM) but instead became an icon for exactly that.

So yeah, as a goth kid I enjoyed the edge, as an adult I enjoy the irony.
