Re: Favorite Comic Book and Characters

Favourite book at the moment is Sex Criminals, and I recommend it to everyone with a sense of humour. It's about a librarian who discovered as a kid that orgasms caused time to stop around her. It wasn't until she started hooking up with folk later in life that she realised this doesn't happen to anyone else. That is, until she sleeps with a guy who comes with her into this time stop. So what do they do besides fall in love? They decide to rob a bank.

I also have a huge soft spot for Roman Dirge's Lenore. They're very absurd and cute comics more akin to Courage the Cowardly Dog mixed in with some Addam's Family that tends toward dark humour that you don't have to feel like an ironic social outcast to enjoy.

Favourite comic character is a tough one. The first one that comes to mind is Guy Gardner because he's just so fun (JLI is impressionable ♥), maybe a kind of wish fulfillment too, and I love how Peter Tomasi writes him in GL Corp. He's not just some crazy lantern either, he's got this rough blunt moral compass too.

But Annie in Gunnerkrig Court is one of the best characters for me because she was a slow burn of development. Here's this stoic no-nonsense schoolgirl in some kind of steampunk Hogwarts, and let's unravel her defensive guards and wring some emotional shit out of her ♥

I'm kind of digging Harley Quinn's ongoing too right now, so there's that.
