(Anonymous) 2015-06-20 12:41 am (UTC)(link)If so, my favourite comic ever is definitely Calvin and Hobbes. And yes, I would recommend to to anyone and everyone.
If we're not counting newspaper comics, I'd have to say Justice League International. I'd recommend that to anyone who A) likes superheroes, and B) doesn't take the superhero genre too seriously.
As for my favourite character? Batman, no competition. There's just so much you can do with him. There are countless ways to interpret him, and he fits into so many different roles. There's campy Adam West Batman, grim-'n'-gritty Frank Miller Batman, Batman the vigilante, Batman the detective, Batman the kung-fu action movie hero, Batman the tragic brooding hero, Batman the morally questionable anti-hero, Superman's BFF Batman, Batman the father figure to multiple Robins and at least one Batgirl, Bruce Wayne the billionaire playboy, etc. Think of any comic book scenario, there's a way you can work Batman into it. Because he's a character that can fill so many roles, he can be inserted seamlessly into pretty much any kind of story - that's why so many Elseworlds are about him, and it's a big part of why he's so popular and iconic. And that's why I love him.
