So how are we liking the season so far?

Won't post spoilers, but I'm loving it. All this darkness and fucked up Hannibal/Will is what I live for. The performances are great, the show looks as stunning as ever... I suppose I could see how some people might be disappointed in how slow things are moving, but frankly the show has always been like that so I don't feel llike it's a major concern.

As for Will... Without getting into details, I think Will has been messed up so deeply and is so wrapped up in Hannibal that he isn't thinking straight. (Pun intended.) The show has always been theatrical and dramatic and I didn't take what happened in last episode to be unusual for this show.

I'm liking it so far. I know that since Fuller doesn't have the rights to Clarice and Buffalo Bill, the show is going to take some liberties with canon stuff. (And weirdly I'm ok with that even though I'm a huge fan of the books and movies.)

Idk how people who are only familiar with the series reacted to hearing about Mischa, but I was squeeing the whole episode.

I'm also really excited about Chiyo (seems like she's going to be this Hannibal's version of Lady Murasaki? Are we getting a Lady Murasaki along with Chiyo?) and her relationship with Will and Hannibal. I'm guessing she was in the same position as Abigail, but chose to do things differently. Or did Hannibal choose for her? After all, Abigail played a big part in Hannibal's plans because of Will. Maybe Hannibal didn't need Chiyo because he lacked a Will Graham at the time he "imprisoned her".

I'm just really really happy that we got a glimpse into Hannibal's past and how that will affect his relationship with Will.

Speaking of, I need to know if I can fully throw myself into shipping Will/Hannibal, or are we getting Hannibal/Miriam (since I'm thinking she's supposed to take Clarice's place eventually?), Will/Chiyo or Will/Molly?
If Hannibal/Miriam is gonna happen, it seems cruel to tease us with Will/Hannibal. And if Molly is gonna happen I hope we're not getting Will/Chiyo because then I know that will end up badly.
(I really care about Will's happiness, okay??)

Oh and Bedelia remains flawless. "How did your sister taste?"
Guuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuurl I hope you hid that ice-pick

It has been slow as a snail. I wish it would pick up the pace already.

Though I do like how they gone full tilt boogie with the idea of Hannibal is Lucifer. (Mads said that when he initially signed up for the role he told Fuller that he wanted to play Hannibal as Lucifer rather than a regular psychopath. Fuller has since taken that ball and ran with it.) I also like the growth or at least twisting of Will's character. With season one, Hannibal tried to convince him he was insane. With season two, Will tried to convince everyone that he was sane. Now with the new season, Will is actually going crazy.

And I miss the lab techs. I didn't realize how much of a role they played to me enjoying this show. But they are huge.

Being italian I'm finding it SO hard to follow it without cringing every dialogue involving italian (or fake italian) people... also, I'm not sure using il mostro di Firenze as a link to Hannibal is really a good choice, but that's maybe because I lived that horrifiying story very up close (one of the people involved lived basically next door to my family) and well, it's still unclear who the real killer (or killers) was and it's all quite fucked up and I'm not sure putting it on an american tv show is, um, good taste.

That said, I'm finally happy with episode 3 because it seems they are picking up the pace. :D

I'm pretty sure they got they link from Thomas Harris' work, it's not something they came up with on their own. I'm also not particularly bothered by the question of whether or not the Italians think it's in good taste. Your police had a grand old time tarring and feathering Amanda Knox based on flimsy "evidence" and your prosecutor spun his wild fairy tales about black masses in both the Monster of Florence and the Knox case, so... good taste? Eh.

da

the fuck?

"The police and law enforcement fucked up the Amanda Knox case therefore your opinion is irrelevant because you're Italian"

I mean... Good luck with that logic.

P.S. The Italian media wasn't the only one having a grand time spinning stories and generally making a huge mess of things. Just saying.

I loved the first two episodes, they were awesome. But this last one seemed a bit off. The whole storyline with Will in Lithuania and the prisoner in the dungeon semed really out there. Why didn't Will drive him to a hospital? How could the prisoner find his way back to the castle?

And how on earth did Will manage to create the dead body display without any tools? When he smashed the bottle and grabbed the tree branch and it cut to a shot of extremely elaborate wings made out of wood and glass I thought to myself "Did Hannibal just jump the shark?"

And why would he do that??? He's going to implicate himself in the murder. Why not leave an anomymous tip for the police? This seems so over the top.

Why didn't Will drive him to a hospital? How could the prisoner find his way back to the castle?

Because Will knew the prisoner would go back to try and kill Chiyo and he wanted to see if she could kill the prisoner instead.
Will already knew the prisoner wasn't innocent (the man made Hannibal eat Mischa, thus making Hannibal into what he is today), but it also served to highlight how far gone he is. He's not a broken little teacup anymore, and he doesn't care if what he's doing is right or wrong. He's only interested in finding out what he's become.

I have no idea what Will's little arts and crafts project was about. A homage to Hannibal? The prisoner is no longer anything but snail-food? Idk.

Anyway, the castle grounds are shut off from the public, I doubt the police are gonna find anything any time soon.
