So, F!S. Summer's in full swing - so what is/are your song or songs of the summer so far?

"Sugar" by Maroon 5 is PERMANENTLY STUCK IN MY HEAD.

I really like the video to that one but the song just reminds me too much of Cotton-Eyed Joe

Cotton Eye Joe is ALSO impressively catchy, to be fair!

Yeah but it's just one of those songs that I've heard toooo much, I think.

OMG just saw that video for the first time and it's so ridiculously sweet! <3

I'm kinda cynical I guess cause some of the younger couples (as in together 2 years or less) I found myself wondering if they'd still be together two years from now. :/

But the more the video went on, the more optimistic I felt and the more moved I was and it was just beautiful.

I kinda hate this song because the guy sounds so smug about his fidelity. Like he's seeking women out and flirting with them just so he can go "LOL NOPE I AM SO TAKEN."

I'm the opposite of you, I think - I don't think enough songs celebrate fidelity. Like sure tons of them sing about unrealistic tru luv 5eva but that's a different thing, and for all the songs that make cheating sound sexy and breakups sound meaningful, few really talk about fidelity being work and taking work (but also being worth it)

I mean, someone's going to come in here and say fidelity is easy because "all you have to do is not cheat, it's nothing to be proud of" but I don't think it's just true - there are plenty of ways to be unfaithful to a relationship without physically having sex with someone else. Plus actual fidelity is keeping a commitment and making sure to think of people and putting in work even if you'd rather throw up your hands and say fuck it we're done because that's easier (for everybody, not just men, of course)

It's just nice to hear a mainstream song where someone is outright acknowledging that and clearly happy to DO it instead of considering it a ball and chain (or worse, a tragic sacrifice look at my suffering)

TLDR THIS SONG GIVES ME LOTS OF FEELINGS CLEARLY

Boys of...summer? Kinda rock, bittersweet though it's more about the end of summer. That or the Beach boys.

Other than that I enjoy the sweet, sweet tunes a high quality air conditioner can make on a hot summer day.
