Re: FFVII remake

I'm really excited for it! I honestly don't mind it if they tie in some things from the compilation, as long as it doesn't overtake the story of the original game. I'm fully prepared for changes, and while I'm a bit scared, I look forward to them.

I think the fans who think everything should just stay the same should realise it won't and that if they don't like it the original game will still be there for them to play. (this is mostly aimed at what I've seen from the reddit part of the fandom. so much butthurt already)

I have faith in Nomura and think he will do fine, especially after reading what he has said on it so far.

As for turn based combat, if they go that route I hope they do it so it's a bit more like the system in X-2 where everyone moves around a bit rather than stand straight in a line.

You're definitely more optimistic than I am :)
I wouldn't say I'm a die-hard purist, but I definitely lean to the side of caution... tbh I would actually be satisfied if the game was basically exactly the same but with mega updated graphics. Of course other perks would be nice, but I'm just kind of leery of where they go with it.
Still, it's pretty amazing that it's finally happening!
