The whole group is affected by her death. More to the point, she's not merely discarded after death but continues to play a role in the plot. If it's a fridging, it's a subversion of such.

Yes,but the only effect we see 'the group' show is sad faces and a prolonged scene of clouds manpain.

Actually, we see Cloud's manpain then the rest of the group tells him to get up and get going because they're hurting too but manpain helps no one. Then Cloud does. Did you forget that part?

Of course they did, because it runs counter to the narrative they've got in their head.

AFAIK they edited the scene in the PC port to add more mourning.
