Single mothers have to play both parts.

They have to take on some of the load that a father might otherwise bear. But that doesn't mean that they should be considered fathers. They're not; they're mothers.

No. They are a parent. Mother/Father just signifies gender.

We should just create a Parent's Day because that is one less holiday, but we didn't. So we have Mother's Day which includes Single Mothers and Father's Day which includes Single Fathers.
