My siblings and I have green or blue, half my nieces and nephews do too, the other half have brown eyes, like their other parents' eyes.

Elizabeth Taylor had really pretty eyes, and, yes, I would probably label them violet as people are wont to do. George Clooney has nice warm, laughing, brown eyes. Jensen Ackles and Ryan Kelley have pretty green eyes. Jaime Bamber has striking blue eyes. Rihanna's are an awesome hazel.

So, uh, some people do notice, yes.

I'm pretty sure not noticing is the exception to the rule. Cause I tend not to and people are always surprised. Sometimes I don't even remember hair color.

Same here, I mean, I know the eye colors of family/friends but I'm often surprised when I read things like "his penetrating blue gaze" or whatever, because I've never paid much attention to those things.
