Well I can sympathise to a degree, I don't usually take notice of people eye colour IRL, partly because I have trouble meeting people's eyes.

On the other hand, some media - live action media - have shots that focus on the eyes and it makes it noticeable.

So... it's a bit both ways, isn't it? Though I do know my family's eye colours (though some times I am not sure I really see the turquoise, sometimes blue is blue is blue, no matter the shade).
