Do you know what also causes anxiety? Sitting in a bar for yourself for 30 minutes waiting for someone to show up because they canceled on you without actually letting you know.

This. In fact, shit like that is partly how I became more antisocial myself. I just don't trust people not to pull that kind of thing.

(The exception being actual mental health issues and the like.)
