Patreon and a gender question

(Anonymous) 2015-06-24 12:05 am (UTC)(link)
Does anyone use Patreon and could you help me out with something I couldn't figure out from its FAQ?

There's someone I want to support, but I essentially live as one gender online and my assigned gender offline. Obviously I don't have payment info with my online persona, for lack of a better word. If I make an account using my online name as the username, will the person I'm supporting be able to see my real name and shipping/payment info?

Because I want to support them as they know me, but I don't want my "other" life to get out.

Try asking?

Thanks for the link, but I'm not really comfortable doing that. It's easy to ask here, where everything can be 100 percent anonymous. But this isn't a question I want tied to my strictly offline or strictly online email addresses, and I'm just not up for dealing with another.

Nah you could go real generic with it.

"What sort of information gets passed on to the Creator if I become a Patron? Do they get my full name? Is it the same name on the credit card? If I use my Mom's credit card, will they see her name instead of mine?"

They're legit enough concerns without any gender related issues too.

Yes but this creator question (https://patreon.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/204605985-What-is-my-patron-manager-) says they can see my mailing address. My name is part of my address, is it not?

You could put your internet name instead of your name in your mailing address. It should work fine; at least, I've seen photographic evidence of it working just fine on Imgur.

My understanding is the person you support will not see these details. I'm on a tier to receive physical items and I had to give the patreon my details via msg as they couldn't see those things themselves.

Wouldn't it be possible to just use the initial of your first name for the shipping address? I'm pretty surety at the person you want to support won't go and google your full name.
