Huh. Cumberbatch and Karl Urban were the only bright spots for ST:ID for me. Everyone else overacted to the point of making me cringe. God, Quinto and Pine were embarrassing.

Also, the person in the comment didn't say he was the most **uhmayzinng** actor ever. They said he was good, which he is. He is a good actor.

they didn't just say he's a good actor. they said that if you don't think he's a good actor you don't know what good acting is. which is a very stupid thing to say.

Seems like OP is letting personal feelings get in the way of how good of an actor they consider Cumberbatch to be. Which I get! I can't stand Brad Pitt so I hate his acting. Though, rationally I know he is a good actor. At least, that's what people tell me. >.>

+1

(Anonymous) 2015-06-24 11:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Ehhhhhhhhhhhh, Brad Pitt isn't really that great of an actor.

(Anonymous) 2015-06-25 01:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Brad Pitt is attractive and plays a specific type of role well... But hardly an acting genius I agree

(Anonymous) 2015-06-24 11:02 pm (UTC)(link)
It's not really stupid, though. I don't think anyone is arguing that BC is a bad actor. So objectively it could be stated that he's a good actor. So if you don't think he's a good actor, it is quite plausible you don't know what good acting is.

(Anonymous) 2015-06-24 11:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Not really? Acting is subjective.

(Anonymous) 2015-06-24 11:13 pm (UTC)(link)
AYRT

It is, but there is certainly a bright line between "good" and "bad." You can get into nuanced argument about whose acting is better, but it would be absurd to say BC is a bad actor.

Maybe he's not bad overall, but he was certainly bad in ST:ID.

Then again, everyone was bad in that movie.

It's not absurd. He does things that make me want to claw my eyes out as an actor. He's not really that good, just conveniently popular.

(I feel the same way about Jennifer Lawrence, who plays the same bland "woman who don't need no man" character in literally e v e r y movie.)

Oh look, someone who doesn't understand typecasting. Regular people not understanding this is one thing, but that an actor doesn't get is says a lot about your credibility.

(Anonymous) 2015-06-25 07:06 am (UTC)(link)
Yup. I, for example, think method acting is for people who can't actually act.

(Anonymous) 2015-06-25 12:40 am (UTC)(link)
Aw, you don't know what good for bad.

I liked Simon Pegg, but that's because I have a theory he did so cause of the writing in that movie. Ever since I saw it, I've always thought his remark to Krik about being explorers was ad libbed as a subtle fuck you to JJ. So, his over acting may have also been on purpose.

Of course, this is all what I believe, but is most likely not true. Nice to think though.
