How do you have your blankets?

[personal profile] caerbannog 2015-06-24 10:54 pm (UTC)(link)
I have them piled up and moreorless layered. Then I roll myself around until I'm basically swaddled in them.

How about you guys?

They are loose on me so that I can stick one foot out from under them to regulate how hot/colt I am. D:

Sheet first, then heavier blankets on top (up to three in winter, but I summer only one). Then I wrap them around me like a cocoon. I have to be covered from chin to toe. (Technically head to toe when I'm sleeping, but I put a pillow over my head.)

Wrap them around myself when on laptop in the evening/morning, loose on top in bed.

I just have one and this morning I woke up like 'wtf where did my blanket go' because it's got so thin now I didn't even feel like I had it on. I cba to replace it though, since I'm moving out in September and money's kind of tight right now anyway so might as well wait til then.

Depends on the season. I have a fuzzy one, which I always like to have directly on top of me because it's the softest, and a comforter. Right now I'm just laying on top of the comforter because it's warm enough that I only need the one blanket.

I don't like my feet or shoulders to stick out no matter how hot it is, so if it's boiling I will sleep under a sheet.

I need to re-make or at least straighten up my bed every day to be comfortable. I like the layers to be flat and hanging down over the sides. I use a top sheet that I tuck in at the foot of the bed. What's on top of this depends on the season.

Hahaha, blankets she says.

Re: How do you have your blankets?

As loose as possible anytime other than winter. In winter, bundled up around me. Very messy in general.

I like them flat and smooth (like right after I've made the bed) but I don't actually make the bed that often because it's a ton of work.

Right now in summer, I have one sheet and 5 blankets (one is folded in half, so it's really like 6 blankets). They're all about medium in thickness. I would increase it by another two or three blankets in winter.

I sleep with four light blankets, than an electric blanket (which will get turned off several hours after I went to bed) then a down comforter. In the summer time I'll end up kicking off all but the bottom blanket. Yes I sleep with an electric blanket in the summer. The house is currently set to 75 degrees.

Piled loose on top of me. I have a tendency to flip and flop all over the bed while I sleep. I don't like being constricted.

Perfectly layered, one on top of the other. From bottom to top, I currently have a light comforter, lamb skin throw, a quilt, and then another comforter. Top sheets are for losers. Also, I can switch up the order whenever I give a fuck about how to boil aesthetically.

Sleep style is to get as much cover around me as possible as long as I can breathe. If I wake up, I have to shift my partial burrito around to get to a cold spot or stick a foot out and under one of the other covers.

Lamb skin throw *_* I had one as a kid and it kept me so warm! We lost it to mild after a flood and I've not been able to afford one since. Best way to keep warm!

So many cold foot regulators on FS haha!

Stacked on top of each other. And pulled over my head when I'm in them because I need to be completely covered in order to sleep. But I don't roll in them because I toss and turn a lot and I'm worried I could actually choke myself if I did that.

I sleep with one quilt (duvet). I never understood the layered blankets thing, partly because I toss and turn in my sleep to the extent that I've occasionally inverted myself during the night, and multiple sheets/blankets/quilts tend to get scrunched and tangled on me. My quilt is a size too big for the bed, so I can fling myself around under it without worrying too much that it'll get turfed off. It usually ends up as a nest by morning either way, in winter with me under it, and in summer with me curled on top of it.

I have a bed sheet, followed by a comforter, followed by a quilt when it is cold. When it is not cold the quilt is neatly folded at the foot of my bed. The comforter and the bed sheet must be perfectly aligned and symmetrical to one another, and even on both sides of the bed.

I am very anal about this.

I make a nest and sleep curled up in a ball. If it gets too hot that way, they end up in a heap on the floor, because I'll kick them clear off the bed instead of just off me.

In the winter, I curl them around myself to cover every extremity.

In the summer, I just sort of toss them everywhere. xD

Re: How do you have your blankets?

Right now, a sheet with a thin-ish quilt thing on top. When it gets REALLY hot I kick the quilt off and just use the sheet, and I'll also do the stick foot outside of blanket thing that other people have mentioned.

In the winter when it's coldest, the sheet, blanket, and then a comforter on top of that.

I feel weird when the blankets are just loosely laying on top of me so I tuck myself in on both sides and the bottom (until I get hot enough to stick a foot out).

I have all of two blankets on my bed. One's a crocheted blanket Mum made, the other is a quilt Mum made. I only have the quilt on my bed in winter.

On a related issue though, a lot of my childhood I didn't use top sheets but I started using one after I moved to Brisbane, partly because in summer nights can be warm enough that I don't want a blanket but I want something over me, so a sheet is both covering but light, and partly because the crocheted blanket I mentioned has some open weave in it and I find it very annoying when I catch a toe through one of the holes, so a sheet prevents.

If I lived in a colder region I probably would warrant more blankets.

I only have a single down filled blanket (second thinnest version there is I think?) - is that a comforter in English? Anyway, I have that one in summer and in winter. If it gets too cold in winter I sometimes get an additional thin blanket but that's a rare occurence.

I like to do the same thing, now that I've moved to a warmer place though, I usually have one leg sticking out underneath. Just have a sheet and medium thickness blanket on top of that. Back home where I'm from I ha a duvet and like three other blankets and I would roll myself into a burrito.
