I only have a single down filled blanket (second thinnest version there is I think?) - is that a comforter in English? Anyway, I have that one in summer and in winter. If it gets too cold in winter I sometimes get an additional thin blanket but that's a rare occurence.

I honestly have no idea what it is called in English but I understand what you are referring to!

Where are you that one blanket is good enough?

I think duvet is another word for it?
I'm in Germany. The room I sleep in doesn't usually get that much colder than 16-18°C (~60-64°F?) at nights in winter, and summers aren't that hot either (and if they are, I just get a thin blanket and ditch the feathers).
Downs/feathers are nice because they provide a very good insulation even with a thin layer.
We don't really have the sheets-and-duvet combination - simple sheets are pretty uncommon except for hotel beds.

I call it a doona but apparently they are also called quilt, comforters and duvet! Always nice to learn new words.

And I agree. Feather down are really good! I think if I had one I wouldn't need the many layers I have right now ^^' but it is also 0-5 Celsius for be at night right now...

Oh, yeah, that's pretty cold - where do you live that it gets so cold at night? It got under 5°C here at night last week as well (after lots of heat and dryness, it suddenly got pretty cold and wet again) but inside it's around 19-20°C without turning the heating on (I hate turning up the heat in the room I sleep in.).

I think it's really interesting how different countries have such different types of beddings.
