DCAU Alfred Pennyworth was my first and is still my favourite Alfred. DCAU Jim Gordon was also pretty definitive for me, as was Hawkgirl and John Stewart as GL.

Brett!Holmes is my favourite onscreen Holmes and Hardwick is my favourite Watson. Ratigan, on the other hand, is the best Moriarty (though I did like Downey!verse Moriarty as well).

Book!Javert is the definitive Javert (obviously), but I like both Quast and Lewis for slightly different reasons, and all of them are head and shoulders above pretty much all film versions (though I reserve a particular hatred for Geoffrey Rush's version because that ending).

Peter Cushing is and always will be my favourite Van Helsing, though he is ... not exactly book canon. At all. Still. Closer than Hugh Jackman.

Charles Dance is the best onscreen Vetinari, by a mile.

Both Raoul Julia and Angelica Houston are the Addamses.

Charles Dance is totally the best Vetinari. But Christopher Lee was the best Death.

Well, it's hard to do sepulchral better than Lee.
