Disagree completely. I think both of them are gorgeous.

But they do look very obviously middle aged, while elves weren't supposed to age physically. Maybe it was too hard to find very young actors who could convincingly act like they had lived for 1000+ years?

Okay, Elrond does (though considering how much loss he has experienced, I just headcanon that away as the result of stress rather than aging because I love Hugo's acting in the part and think he acted the part really well even if he doesn't quite look the part) but Celeborn doesn't really look middle aged to me.
