Yes, out of anger, but not within the hearing range of the person in question. The context was pretty damn racist, so no justification whatsoever.

I admit I'm younger and non-American, but the idea of calling someone black that word, even out of anger, is just so gross and unthinkable to me.

I've quoted other people who said it, but I don't think I've ever used it on my own, even just to discuss the word. It doesn't come up much in conversation.

Of course, yeah.

I'd feel bad if I used it to insult someone directly. But it's a name or name element, and then it can have a certain biting use rhetorically.

I also like the word "cunt."

Yes. I worked in a bookshop and it was in a book title (and academic book> Can't remember.) I gritted my teeth and mentally took two steps away from myself.

Many times. I'm black and grew up in a mostly black neighborhood though, so it's just something that I grew up hearing a lot because I knew a lot of other black people who used it as anything from a term of endearment to an insult so it was just something that I picked up from friends and family. Now that I've gotten older, I try not to throw it around as much but I tend to slip back into the habit when I'm around my siblings and old friends.

I'm not American and this word is no different from any other English-language slur to me.

I probably said it some time or another as a quote when talking about texts in a History of English literature class. But other than that... I don't think so? But then again, I'm not American so /shrug

Yes, but not to actually call someone that. But maybe it's me not being American, but, when actually discussing the word or racism, I just find it somewhat of a cop-out to say "n-word".
