Re: Does anybody here track calories? (possible triggers for ED)

I don't know if OP is like me but this NEVER works for me.

I can't have sweets in the house or I eat them.

So if I want to have any, I'll just give myself a cheat day and let myself indulge for one day.

This is it exactly. I cannot not just eat the whole carton. A spoonful a day should be considered torture in most states.

I'm a recovering binge eater so with junk food I like the big bang or nothing at all.

OP needs to learn how to manage that or else they will never be able to keep weight off long-term.

Being able to keep weight off requires being able to have temptations around you and knowing how to eat them in moderation. Otherwise you're setting yourself up for an extremely unhealthy attitude towards food and it's not sustainable over a long period of time.

Honest question, in what situation would OP have to live with constant temptations unless they had them in their house/apartment? Not everyone has food at work.

That might be true of temptations when it comes to eating out or buying your groceries and making sure you pick up the spinach instead of the donuts. But in your own home? Avoiding temptation by just not having it in the house is absolutely valid, and recommended by just about everyone/thing when it comes to cutting back on unhealthy eating. After all, if you only eat donuts on cheat days or for special treats, why on earth would you gave them in the house every day?

Plus, if you do have problems with control, you're not going to solve them over night. Small steps are significant, and if eating your days worth of calories in icecream is an improvement on eating icecream until you are sick, then that's an improvement.
